Initiatives taken by Interact Club
Be My Buddy Campaign:
The club organised a book donation drive called the ‘Be My Buddy Campaign’ in the month of April wherein students from all across the school donated their old books to give to their less privileged friends in the society. The collection process was a success with 14 huge cartons filled with books being collected.
The books were donated to The Gyanshakti Vidyalaya, Sector-93, Noida. At the school, the interactors spent quality time with the children and interacted with students of classes 1st, 2nd and 3rd. They also emphasized on the importance of books and education, and encouraged the students to pursue their education. Books were also donated to Apna Ghar Social Welfare Society in Sector-49, Noida.
Unite for Better Vision:
In the month of May, DPS Noida’s Interact club collaborated with the Rotaract Club of O.P. Jindal University for the ‘Unite for Better Vision’ initiative wherein used spectacle frames were to be donated. The students and the teachers enthusiastically took part and over 50 spectacle frames were collected in this campaign!
Each one, Reach one, Teach one:
Students took part in the ‘Each One Teach One’ program conducted by Rotary India Literacy Mission which is an opportunity for all the interactors to turn an illiterate into a literate person during their summer break.
About 50 interactors volunteered to be a part of this initiative which took place in the month of June.
Aspire To Inspire:
The Interact Club of DPS Noida partnered with the NGO Magic Bus Foundation for a 2 day exchange program between children of the Khora community in Noida and the interactors. The event commenced on 23rd July’16 with the interactors paying a visit to the Prathmic Vidyalaya, Navada Nagar, Khora and participating in various sports based activities. On 26th July’16 the Magic Bus children visited DPS Noida and the group indulged in interactive activities based on a Magic Bus module on the importance of education.
It was a one-of-a-kind experience that sensitized the children about a whole new world that they were previously unaware of. The engaging activities helped in breaking the societal barriers between the two communities and made them realize how similar they are with one another. As they bid a heartfelt goodbye to each other, the community children were presented with study kits and one could see that the purpose of the event was successfully achieved.
Interactors participated in the District Interact Leadership Assembly held on 2nd September 2016 at Amity University, Noida.
Interactors collected handwritten notes and small gifts from students of classes Nursery-XIIth which they had written for their teachers to acknowledge their hard work and to show their love and respect for them. The happiness of our teachers upon receiving these messages was proof enough of the success of the event!
The Interact Club of DPS Noida sends rakhis and cards to the soldiers at the borders every year on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan to express gratefulness for their service and remind them that we care. This year, these thoughtful messages and handmade rakhis made by students of classes Nursery-12th were sent to the army headquarters in areas of Punjab and Siachen, Kashmir.
This tradition of our school has brought us closer to them, the fighters at our borders, our brothers.
The Installation ceremony for the Rotary year 2016-17 was held on 15th July’16 and was graced by Rtn. Major Dalbir sir (Director New Generation), Rtn. Sashank Agarwal (President Rotary Club Noida) and other honourable Rotarians. Participants of the Gaurvi program were also honoured at the function for their achievements by members of the ATDC family.
